Exceptional Taste, Authenticity and a Great Remarkable Quality. Cardamom, also called as cardamon, cardamum, elchi or elaichi is native to Indian Subcontinent and Indonesia. The highly aromatic sweet spicy flavours of the cardamom enhances both sweet and savoury dishes.

Black cardamom, also known as badielaichi, is a spice derived from the dried pods of the Amomum subulatum plant, native to the eastern Himalayas. It has a smoky, pungent flavor and a distinct woody aroma, setting it apart from the more common green cardamom. The pods are large and dark brown to black, with a wrinkled, tough outer layer. They contain tiny, dark-colored seeds, which are the source of the spice's flavor.

Flavor and Aroma:

Black cardamom is known for its smoky, earthy, and slightly minty flavor, which is stronger and more pungent than green cardamom.

It has a distinct woody aroma, often described as a combination of smoky and camphor-like notes.

The flavor is imparted by the seeds inside the pod, which are typically dark and sticky.

Health Benefits:
  • Black cardamom has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for its potential health benefits.
  • Some studies suggest it may have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
  • It has also been traditionally used to aid digestion, improve respiratory problems, and even help prevent cavities.
  • Some research indicates it may help lower blood pressure and improve blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
